Anyone who travels to the Yucatan Peninsula as a diver usually does so for a specific reason.
Because of the hundreds of kilometers of beautiful underground spring passages and countless warm water cenotes found here.
Mexico is a pilgrimage site for all the cavern and cave divers in the world.
Can be found:
- White caves
- Amber colored caves
- Depth and also shallow caves
- Dives with simple or complex navigation
- Massive haloclines
The three most ancient cave systems are found on the Yucatan peninsula, guaranteeing every heart of a cave dive.
The world’s longest flooded cave system is called Ox-Bel-Ha (meaning: 3 Ways of Water). It has a total length of 269 km and a maximum depth of 57.3 m.
Ox-Bel-Ha has 142 different cenotes.
The second longest flooded cave system is called Sistema Sac-Actun (meaning: white cave). It has a total length of 252 km and a maximum dive depth of 101 m, it accommodates 187 different accesses.
Koox Baal is the third longest, with a length of 87 km and a maximum depth of 26.2 m, and 53 different cenotes.
We would like to guide you further than the cavern areas as trained cave divers.
The day sequence is as follows:
We start at 8:00am with a big breakfast and thorough dive briefing where we plan our dive based on the maps which I provide.
Afterwards we drive the pick-up truck through the jungle to the Cenote. We prepare our equipment in
peace and check it thoroughly. Once in the water we follow the usual procedures, and we thoroughly go over the dive plan again.
Cave dives are always set to the 1/3 rule and this determines our dive time. _Dives with additional stages can also be carried out. These require even more explicit gas planning.
