Cenote Angelita :
Level: Advanced
Depth: between 30 and 40 meters
Temperature: constantly 26°C
Angelita, translated from Spanish, means “Little Angel”. Diving it is an unforgettable experience in many aspects. Located 17 kilometers south of Tulum, it’s the farthest cenote from Playa del Carmen. This almost perfectly circular cenote is roughly 60 meters deep. The first 10 meters of the dive are a bit cloudy, but as soon as we get past this section, the visibility improves and gives us a view down to the hydrogen sulfide layer which lies at a depth of about 30 meters. The layer looks like a huge cloud and, with big trees coming out of it, it is definitely something you’ve never seen before. Below the cloud is salt water and a lot of organic material lying around. Because it’s pretty dark down there, we get the feeling of walking through a forest at night.
Depending on your air consumption, the ascent will be slow as we dive in a spiral along the walls of the sinkhole.
Due to its depth, we only recommend this cenote to our experienced guests.
