Cenote Carwash is also called Aktun Ha and is located on Highway 109 about 9 kilometers west of Tulum. The cenote has a big open water area similar to Cenote Eden and offers two sections for diving – one in the upstream- and one in the downstream section of the cenote. The downstream section, though, is only for certified cave divers.
Next to a huge tree, which lies in the water, starts the rather small cavern area of this cenote. Dark and huge formations are waiting for us inside the cavern area. The maximum depth of the dive at this site is approximately 15 meters.
During summertime, algae starts to bloom causing the first two meters from surface to appear foggy. Besides this fog, there are a lot of fish and water lilies in the open area of the cenote which makes this place very popular with underwater photographers.
