As you’ve probably noticed since your first breath underwater in your professional courses as a Divemaster/Assistant Instructor, the feeling of passing on your passion and enthusiasm to others is likely immense. Then the Instructor Development Course is definitely right for you.
The Instructor Development Course and Evaluation will change your life in many ways, both in the diving world and beyond.
Continue to share your enthusiasm for the underwater world and work with a family of international instructors.
The SDI Instructor Course was created to provide active Divemasters or Assistant Instructors with the opportunity to safely apply standards and procedures for dive education as an Open Water Scuba Diving Instructor. This program is divided into two segments, the Instructor Development Course (IDC) and the Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC). Your big advantage is that we can also conduct our subsequent examinations right here in-house.
We focus entirely on you as an individual and your success. Personalized attention is guaranteed: there’s one Instructor Trainer for every 3 students. We will ensure that you, as a future SDI instructor, are well-prepared for your role in the diving industry. For us, your success in the SDI Instructor Examination (IEC) is not the only thing that matters, but also your journey as a diving instructor.
Throughout the entire IDC, you will conduct theory, pool, and open water lessons using course materials and gain confidence in how to teach theory and practice. At the same time, you will gain a clear understanding of the SDI training philosophy and learn about the programs available. For these programs, we organize workshops where you can gain practical teaching experience.
Join the next IDC and become a diving instructor in the SDI TDI family, a proud and elite team of professional diving instructors and trainers.

Duration:
The full-time course with us lasts a total of nine days. It includes the Instructor Development Course (IDC) and the Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC) immediately following the IDC. The part-time course with us covers the same content as the full-time course, but the content is spread over five weekends, with the IEC conducted on the last weekend. The course will involve at least 100 hours of training and at least 50 hours under the direct supervision of our team. All courses are tailored to the level of the students and are expanded as needed to meet the comfort and completion requirements of the students and staff.
How do I prepare for the course?
To prepare for your IDC, you should review the basic topics of diving again. Additionally, you must master all skills of the Open Water Diver (OWD) course and rescue scenarios and should practice and refresh these in the weeks before your participation in the IDC.
Contents of the Instructor Development Course (IDC):
As part of our IDCs, we prepare you for the Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor (OWSI) exam, as well as for instructor in two specialties. Our recommendation here is training in Deep Diving and Nitrox. Of course, there is also the possibility to be trained in other specialties, just talk to us about it.
Are there different scopes of the IDCs?
With us, there are no content differences between so-called Basic, Advanced, VIP, or otherwise named courses. IDC is IDC, and at the end of the course, you should be able to teach your future diving students comprehensively. The only variable is the choice of the respective specialties you want to teach after the course and the dynamics of the group.
Course fees:
For your participation in the full-time course, consisting of IDC & IEC, as well as the preparatory course, we charge a fee of 3000 EUR per participant, which is to be paid in advance of the course. The certification fees for certifications are NOT included in this fee and will be invoiced separately by the organization.
What is not included in the course fees?
All individual costs (such as food, drink, accommodation) and your personal diving equipment at instructor level.
