During the course you will learn the necessary dive theory and complete five dives in shallow water (pool), and at least four scuba dives on Playa Del Carmen’s reefs.
PADI and SDI Open Water Diver Course
Alternatively, you can complete the theoretical part of the course from home before your vacation with PADI’s or SDI´s eLearning program.
With the PADI and/or the SDI Open Water Diver (OWD)certification, you can dive unsupervised to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet accompanied by a diving partner with equal or higher certification.
Children between the ages of 10 and 14 can complete the Junior Open Water Diver certification.
Junior Open Water Divers who are 10 to 11 years old can only dive with a parent, guardian or dive professional and are limited to a depth of 12 meters or 40 feet.
How it works:
We start on the first day at 8.00 AM. Over a cup of coffee or a glass of water, we discuss the Knowledge Reviews you have completed in the PADI or SDIOWD Manual.
Then we go to the swimming pool where we learn and practice dive skills. The important thing is that you feel comfortable in the water, in the diving gear, and with the skills. We can take all the time in the world until you feel confident and comfortable.
On the second day, we complete the remaining dive theory and fill out a short questionnaire (10 questions). At noon, we go on the boat to head over to two local reefs in Playa del Carmen. On the reefs, we make the first two scuba dives of your Open Water Diver course. After a brief repetition of the skills learned in the pool, we go on a fun dive to explore the underwater world.
On the third day, we start with the final exams and then we go back on the boat to make your final two scuba dives for your certification. A lot of fun, appropriate knowledge and a high degree of safety is the most important focus for us. You will then be certified as a PADI or SDI Open Water Diver. This certification is recognized worldwide.
