The cenote itself is located about 20 kilometers west of <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Puerto_Morelos\">Puerto Morelos<\/a> on the \u2018Ruta de los Cenotes\u2019. This route connects Puerto Morelos and Valladolid. From the turnoff of the old road, an adventurous track of about 5 kilometers leads us through the jungle to the cenote. The ecopark, named after the cenote, offers a small parking lot close to the water with tables to assemble equipment. Even though we are far into the jungle, there are showers and what are perhaps the biggest and most comfortable restrooms in all of Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Cenote Zapote wp-image-2003 size-full\" title=\"Cenote Zapote\" src=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Cenote-Zapote-von-unten.png\" alt=\"Cenote Zapote\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The park includes three different cenotes for experienced divers. These are<br \/>\ncenotes <a href=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/eng\/cenote-dive-sites\/cenote-zapote\/\">Zapote<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/eng\/cenote-dive-sites\/cenote-holbox\/\">Holbox<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/eng\/cenote-dive-sites\/cenote-kin-ha\/\">Kin Ha<\/a>. Cenote Zapote is a typical sinkhole that has a topography like an hourglass. At the surface, the cenote has a diameter of around 30 meters with a lot of water lilies growing. Therefore, it is an attractive view for photographers.<\/p>\n<p>The tightest point of the hourglass is at a depth of 20-21 meters. As soon as we pass that point, the cenote opens to a wide and large room which is fully decorated with formations that look like bells. The light inside the room is slightly green and below us lies a cloud of hydrogen sulfide.
