It has been open to the public since 2008. As we can already imagine by its name, it really is a \u2018gate to our dreams\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>On a bumpy road we drive 3 kilometers into the jungle until we reach the small parking lot right next to the cenote. At first glance, there is not much to see besides one palapa, a toilet and a few tables to arrange our equipment. Because the cenote\u2019s surroundings have very little development, this place is such an idyllic one.<\/p>\n<p>Cenote Dreamgate offers us two dives at the same site, one in the upstream- and one in the downstream section. This means we enter the cavern area once with the current, and for the other dive against the current.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Cenote Dreamsgate wp-image-2017\" title=\"Cenote Dreamsgate\" src=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_8895.jpg\" alt=\"Cenote Dreamsgate\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 15-20 minutes into the dive in the downstream section, we arrive at an air dome with many roots hanging down from the ceiling. These roots resemble elephant feet and release some type of organic acid which colors the water emerald green.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Cenote Dreamsgate aligncenter wp-image-2020 size-full\" title=\"Cenote Dreamsgate\" src=\"https:\/\/deepdivemexico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Dreamsgate-left-line-10-Kopie.jpg\" alt=\"Cenote Dreamsgate\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We like to describe the cavern of the second, slightly shorter dive as a landscape of wax. Everywhere you look, it\u2019s full of stalactites and stalagmites. Many people who have visited this place describe the dives in Cenote Dreamgate as the most beautiful cavern dives in the world.
