You will learn how to safely plan and use Nitrox mixtures with an oxygen content of up to 100% to extend your no-decompression limits or optimize your decompression. What is the TDI Advanced Nitrox Course?

In the Advanced Nitrox Diver course, breathing gases with up to 100% oxygen are used. Similar to the Nitrox Diver course, the correct handling, advantages/disadvantages, and use of oxygen-enriched air are discussed. Additionally, the basics of accelerated decompression using various decompression gases are learned.

TDI Sidemount Course Outline

Part 1 – Theory

  • Equipment, Configuration, and Practical Application
  • Foundational Philosophy: Dir-Style and Free-Style
  • Nitrogen and Oxygen Theory for Advanced Diving Activities
  • Dive Planning and Emergency Procedure Management
  • Operation of decompression computers and decompression software

Part 2 – Practical Application (Duration: 2 Days)

  • Basic Exercises and Special Diving Skills for Decompression Dives
  • Implementation of Dive Planning for Decompression Dives
  • Runtime Diving and Trimix Computer
  • 4 Dives with Bottom and Decompression Gases

Prerequisites for the TDI Advanced Nitrox

  • At least 18 years old
  • Certified as at least an Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 25 logged dives
  • Certified as a Nitrox Diver
  • Basic technical training, regardless of agency

Standard Equipment for TDI Advanced Nitrox

  • Sidemount Wing System
    – Specially configured harness with buoyancy compensator (no backplate BCD)
  • Two individual dive tanks
    – Typically aluminum 80 cuft, each with its own regulator
    – Stage rigging kit
  • Three Regulator Sets
    – Each with 1st and 2nd stage and pressure gauge
    – One regulator with a long hose (minimum 210 cm)
    – One regulator with a shorter hose
    – Additional stage regulator
  • Dive computer or bottom timer
    Optional: Backup computer
  • Mask and spare mask
    A spare mask is mandatory in technical diving
  • Fins
    Ideal with good control for frog kick, helicopter turn, and back kick
  • DSMB
    (Decompression Buoy) with Spool
  • Wetsuit
  • Weight System
    (if required)
  • Cutting Tool
  • Dive Light
    Optional, depending on Dive Environment
