Technical diving is defined as a type of diving that goes beyond the limits of recreational diving, but has nothing to do with ‘professional diving’.
.
It is further defined as an activity that meets at least one of the following criteria:
- Dives deeper than 40 meters, mandatory, staged decompression
- Diving in an environment where there is no direct ascent possibility within 40 m (horizontal & vertical), accelerated, staged decompression and/or the use of multiple gases during a dive.
PADI launched the TecRec program in 2000, together with Diving Science And Technology (DSAT).
Cenote Diving without Special Training
- A coherent, logical course structure that leads from Tec-Beginner to a qualified Tec Diver using various gases.
- Extensive, up-to-date course materials
- Each course level introduces new equipment, planning methods, and procedures that become necessary at greater diving depths.
The Tec Deep Diver Course is a sequence of three courses: Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50. They can be completed consecutively or individually.
Ultimately, these courses also form the basis for the Instructor levels in the TecRec system.
