Mama Vina Wreck

The Mama Vina Wreck is one of the furthest dive spots in the region, a 35-minute boat ride from the port in Playa del Carmen. Mama Vina – an old crab boat that was intentionally sunk in 1995 – has since created an artificial reef and is now one of the top dive sites on the Riviera Maya. Divers descend here in a free descent through the blue water to a depth of 30 meters.

The moderate current automatically carries us to the bow, which faces the South-North current. Here, you can often spot large green moray eels, barracudas, and turtles. With a bit of luck, during the winter months, you might even encounter bull sharks.

Due to the maximum depth of 30 meters, this dive site is exclusively for those who already hold their Advanced Open Water certification. For Nitrox divers among us, we offer free Nitrox so you can enjoy the wreck for as long as possible.
