Diving in Playa del Carmen at Shangrila Reef
With a depth of 9 meters, Shangrila Reef is our shallowest reef here in Playa del Carmen. We dive from south to north, with the reef on the left side.
Right at the beginning of this beautiful reef in Playa del Carmen, you will find 2 overhangs with plenty of fish hiding there.
In addition to blue striped grunts, schools of southern sennet, southern stingrays and even turtles often can be seen here.
If you have a good eye, you can also spot nudibranchs or seahorses.
Shangrila has no current as it is in a bay making it ideal for photographers and beginners.
Bottom time, as always, is not limited at DeepDiveMexico and, therefore, it´s possible to make pretty long dives at this super shallow reef.
