Dive Site: Cenote Kin Ha
Level: Advanced
Depth: 30 meters max.
The Cenote Kin Ha
Cenote Kin-Ha is one of the typical sinkholes often found on the “Ruta de Los Cenotes” from Puerto Morelos. The entrance is only a few hundred meters from Cenote Zapote.
From Playa del Carmen, Kin-Ha can be reached in less than an hour by car. The road to Cenote Kin Ha has been completely renovated and is now much more pleasant than before.
Through an inconspicuous hole in the ground, which always reminds us of Alice’s “Rabbithole in Wonderland”, a staircase leads down to the water.
Covered Grotto Area
Upon descending into the covered grotto area, it quickly becomes clear that something exciting must be hidden there. The actual Cenote Kin Ha has a diameter of about 50 meters and a depth of approx. 60 meters.
Our dive starts from the platform in the middle of the water, and from there you dive along the wall down to a moderate depth of 30m.
Cenote Kin-Ha
Cenote Kin-Ha is equipped with the bell-shaped formations typical for this region, and these can be found all around the wall.
In summer, sunlight hits the water surface almost vertically, creating a beautiful play of light.
Throughout the entire dive, one stays close to the wall for reference. As soon as either no-decompression limit or air supply is reached, we begin the spiral ascent along the wall.
Dive
The unique formations, found in very few cenotes, as well as the light entering through the holes in the ceiling and its effects in the water, make this dive a unique experience.
