Tajma Ha Cenote and its Play of Light:
The Tajma Ha Cenote is located about 30 km south of Playa del Carmen and was once named after the famous tomb in India. Since the word ‘Ha’ means ‘water’ in Maya, the name quickly became Taj Ma Ha.
Cenote Location
The entrance to this cenote is unmistakable from Highway 307. A small, private dirt road, about 2 km long, eventually leads us to the cenote, where we can find not only restrooms but also concrete tables for your equipment.
Tajma Ha Cenote and its Play of Light:
This magnificent cenote and its play of light are known to change with every season. The sun’s position is responsible for these incredible transformations. Especially during the summer months (from March to September), the most popular play of light appears shortly after descending. This chamber is called the “Point of Light” (light point). Small holes in the ceiling, through which the light shines, give the impression that laser beams are penetrating.
