Dive Site: Casa Cenote
Level: Beginner
Depth: 7 meters max.
The Casa Cenote
The Casa Cenote is also known as Cenote Manatí. Manatees are sea cows, and it is said that some have already been sighted in Casa Cenote.
Snorkeling Destination
Casa Cenote is separated from the sea only by the beach and is directly connected to the sea by an approximately 50m long tunnel.
The cenote is located in the middle of the coastal mangrove forest and is therefore also a popular destination for snorkelers. When diving, as well as snorkeling, you get a wonderful insight into the flora and fauna of Mexico’s Caribbean coast.
The dive starts in a large, open area and then leads us further and further into the mangrove forest.
Mangrove Roots
The first part of the dive takes place in open water, where you are surrounded by the mangrove roots. In the back part, you will find the inconspicuous entrance to the grotto area of Casa Cenote.
Mangrove Forest
You dive through a tunnel of rocks and roots until you finally reach the open area of the cenote again. Once you reach this point, it’s worth surfacing to enjoy the idyllic tranquility and beauty of the mangrove forest.
With an average depth of 4 meters, the dive time is approximately 55-65 minutes.
